Foresee PHP

Ohio Eye Alliance is proud to have been one of the first practices in the country to offer the Foresee Preferential Hyperacuity Perimetry (PHP) Testing to its patients. The Foresee PHP Test, developed by Notal Vision, offers us the opportunity to treat wet macular degeneration at the earliest possible moment, improving our patients’ chances of preserving their vision.

Dr. Garfinkle has been featured in studies with Notal Vision, including an article published in the December 2008 issue of Ophthalmology Management regarding the Foresee PHP Test.

The test is a simple, non-invasive test involving a series of dashed lines that flash onto the test screen. These lines may be straight or contain artificial distortions as controls. When a patient views a line in an area of the eye where a lesion is developing, it will appear distorted. The patient simply uses a stylus to touch the screen where any distortions appear. The sensitivity of the test enables our doctors to visualize any questionable areas for further testing, or for treatment. Done repeatedly over time, we are able to monitor any changes.

The test can now be performed at home with any changes conveyed to your physician who will contact the patient.
